Today I wanted to help wrap up the year and give my opinion on the best songs of 2018. With so many releases it's very hard to compile the list to just 10 songs, but I did my best to mention the songs that enjoyed the most. I spent a lot of time complaining this list so hopefully, you find some of your favorite songs on the list!
I was debating for a long~ time on whether to add this song to my top 2018 songs list. I mean the song just came out in November so its only been out for a few weeks while I'm writing this, and let's be honest I am probably just being biased since I've been keeping it on replay.
I've never been a big fan of but this song was just simply amazing. I love how vocals go from soft to loud, low to high and the best part is the breaks where the violin sound emerges. The lyrics had a deep, sorrowful meaning and had me wishing I could give everybody a hug. Also, I had to rewatch the mv a few times since I was flabbergasted! (You didn't know I could use such big words, surprised? Now you know the feeling) " Highlight can dance?!"
Ok, so here goes another recent release. Don't bite my head off, geez. The competition came down between this song and Shinee's Good Evening, but as you can see Key came out the winner. I've only listened to a few Shinee songs, but I love the members solo albums. I never really noticed Key before ( Minho and Onew are the loves of my life) so I was pleasantly surprised when he released his solo album, and I was even happier because I ended up loving most of the songs. Now every member in Shinee has released a solo song. Except for Minho. Will 2019 be the year?
... Kia, there are more songs in 2018 than just the ones that were released within the past few months!

Sam Kim is a guilty pleasure of mine, and as a true fangirl, I am on top of all his releases. I only started listening to him last year but I fell in love with him so quickly. He and Zion T have those magical vocals that just do wonderful things to my ears. The vocals and slow beat remind me of all the early 2000s R&B songs that I love. The way he sounds while saying "Talk to Me" gets me every time.
Gorgeous or Spotlight? Which would you choose? Trying to decide between those songs was torture! Both songs were equally amazing, and the choreography for both was fun to watch!
I didn't realize until I started to type this that #6 is Day6. How irony. Day6 had a bunch of releases in 2018 and while I enjoyed a lot of them, this song is my favorite. It has a unique sound that I have never heard in kpop songs before, and I love the message this song conveys.
I'm honestly surprised that this song made the list. After hearing Chewing Gum, I swore off NCT Dream, and their song Go reminded me why I still didn't like them. But then they came out with this great song, and now I'm actually looking forward to their next release (don't disappoint me SM)
Every year I fall in love with yet another VIXX song, and each year that song ends up on my yearly wrap up list. This song just reminded me how much I love my bias (Leo) and how my bias wrecker is worthy of his title (N). Compared to previous dances I felt that the members were attacking this choreo much harder. Their dances are always graceful, and smooth but seeing how much power they put into the dance reminded me that the members are all great dancers.
Such a great song, by a great group. Varsity is a great group but the sad reality is that they are underrated. I wish they got more attention, especially since this song is amazing and since this might be my new favorite by them. But then again, I guess that's how most people feel about their favorite underrated groups...
After what felt like days of staring at a blank word document, and endless internal debate I decided to place this song here. No doubt Stray Kids was my favorite rookie group from 2018. They worked so hard this year, and had a release every few months. But because of that there were so many great songs to choose from. I narrowed down my top favorites to I Am You and District 9. After more debating (and a coin flip) I finally added this song! I can't wait to see what Stray kids has to offer in 2019!
And the number one spot goes to MyTeen! This group is not known by many, but with such a great song I know that you've listened to it already. Right? (This is a good chance to hit that play button) This song has stuck with me for most of the year, and this is still one of my go to songs. I just love the vocals and the chorus! I can't wait to hear more from them in these upcoming months!

This past week I've found myself listening mostly to songs that I can sing along with. Basically, this week has been one long karaoke session! I've mastered Ikon's Love Scenario, Henry's I'm Good and now I'm ready for the next challenge! These last few days I've also been listening to a lot of Ed Sheeran and Shawn Mendes songs but I managed to keep these few K-pop songs on replay throughout the week.
I mean love Pentagon because of there energy and colorful concepts, but seriously? Of all the things Violet they could've chosen (flowers, jewelry, stuffed animal, etc) They choose a hideous violet sweater? This song is a nice change filled with excellent vocals, beautiful men, and ugly matching violet sweaters.
Well, this is a surprise. I’m not a Taemin fan, but there's something soothing and relaxing about this song. After watching this music video I felt the urge to go appreciate nature. I wanted to go find the biggest open lot (besides the Walmart parking lot) and recreate some of these beautiful moments. Unfortunately, it's almost 33 F degrees outside (0 C), so I decided to stay in bed today and enjoy nature next month.
I'm pretty sure I rewatched the music video at least 6 times within in one hour. The choreography was powerful and sharp, also who wasn't excited to meet Lucas? Hi Lucas!
It's just so fun and cute! And can we just take a moment to appreciate how normal this video is? No crazy outfits, no excess makeup, and no half-naked chicks in the video (I just had a 2 pm flashback). Just cute guys dancing in an abandoned warehouse. Normal.
I have found my entrance! Every time I enter a room I'm going to throw my arms up just like this! You'll never be alone! Because I'll Alway's be with you, you, you, you! Ugh. The dance is catchy, the lyrics are memorizing, and the song just makes me miss him more.
Challenge accepted! I've noticed that I haven't really talked about myself, and because of this you guys might consider me a stranger. I started this blog not only so that I can talk about my love of K-pop and K-drama, bur also so I could meet new people!
Recently in social media there have been many articles discussing how K-pop fans have acted out and are going to extremes. I usually ignore these kinds of articles, but one incident in particular, really set me off. It made me realize that I don't understand what drives fans to do these things! Obviously, not all fans are like this, but when you have a stadium full of fan-girls who are acting out, its kind of hard not to judge the entire fan base because of the actions of those 200-500 people.
Here in the USA music video can be put into one of three categories.
1. Feature half-naked girls dancing 2. Feature a lot of close ups and the singer standing in random scenic areas'
3. They attempt to show a story, but leave you with more questions than you started with
I think that's the main reason (at least for me) that makes K-Pop so unique and different! Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of music videos with half-naked chicks (just check out Body by Mino or Aquaman by Jay Park) but most mv's don't have that! Recently the MV's that I've watched have had some sort of symbolic meaning or told mini stories. I enjoy watching mv's with that are more than what you see, but I'm not the brightest person when it comes to figuring out the meanings. For example I didn't notice that all the GOT7 albums are connected until I saw the new trailer. No, I didn't notice that the title songs are centered around flight. No I didn't catch the fact that both album names started with Flight Log.
And yes, this sounds really sad. ₍₍ (ง Ŏ౪Ŏ)ว ⁾⁾
But back to the main topic
I love watching MV's filled with dancing (shirtless preferably), but watching MV's with story lines is like watching mini movies. There short, and entertaining to watch!

Skydive by BAP
This mv was basically a movie by itself! 10 mins is LONG, and I remember how reluctant I was to watch this when I saw how long it was. But B.A.P had me swallowing my words with this modern-day noir (get it? Noir? That's the title of the album! Sorry I felt smart for noticing that) video. The movie would be about a gang or group of mercenaries who are being hunted by the feds. The mv does show scenes with a girl who was being held hostage, so I guess there would be some romance. The movie would be mostly be a suspense-thriller with great action scenes (including gunfights). The B.A.P members are excellent actors so I have no doubt this would be a popular movie!
Come back home by 2NE1
This would make an awesome sci-fi film! The 2NE1 ladies looked fierce throughout the video making me wish that the video was a little longer, and that it actually made sense (°ヘ°). I didn't really understand the video because of all the different happenings throughout. I did fall in love with the futuristic, dystopia ,and techy vibe! My favorite part of the mv was seeing CL dressed in that badass outfit! No doubt there would be a lot of action and fight scenes in this movie.
Half moon by Dean
This one is pretty straightforward so there's not much that needs to be said. It'd be your typical romance film, but the reason this one stood out was because of the heavy symbolism. I loved how throughout the mv there were a bunch of symbolic moments and items that represented love and how 2 people become 1. It was cute, and made the romance feel more heartfelt. The mature tone, would also set this movie apart from the others, because its unknown if they will get back together. Not all romances have happy endings. Lastly who doesn't want to see Dean act in a romance? He's such a cutie! (´ε｀ )♡
Starlight and Why by Taeyeon
My wish came 50% true! Dean is in a romance story (although it's another mv and not a drama or movie). What makes this mv stand out from the others is: That there is a bigger meaning, and a lot of theories. It cool how one video can be interpreted so many ways. For the sake of this article I'm just going to mention my favorite theory, but I think it would be cool if their was a movie that holds multiple meanings. For a movie version it would be about finding love and letting go of the past. Dean and Taeyeon were such a cute couple to watch, and I think they have good chemistry. It would be fun to watch the journey of a girl as she not only finds a new love, but also finds herself and learns to let go of the past (I guess you could just combine all her mv's to make one big movie!)
Fxxk It by Big Bang
Twenty the movie. Big Bang style! The colors, retro feel, and comedic antics of the members have me longing for a comedic film starring our favorite guys. They've already proven how funny they are by acting in skits and movie parodies so I have no doubt that they could pull this off. This movie would be similar to the movie Twenty (which everyone needs to watch!). A film about a group of friends that are getting through life. It would be fun to see these guys showing off their personalities and seeing what craziness they get themselves into! (*≧▽≦)
Spring Love By Eric Nam and Wendy
This cute romantic mv with Eric Nam and Wendy made me think of the american movie 500 Days of Summer. This would be a great romance story about young love, and maybe even 1st love. The couple complimented each other well. Although a lot of the scenes were corny, it was still adorable. The movie would probably be a romantic drama, and not a romantic comedy. Since it Spring Love it might be about a romance that starts in the spring and how it ends..
Can’t help myself by Eric Nam
Eric Nam again! This would make another great romance, but where Spring Love would be a more serious drama, Can't help myself would make a great comedic romance. A story about a geeky guy trying to catch the attention of a girl who rides the same bus. Most films with similar plot lines have the geeky character transform into a cool guy, but I wouldn't have him change himself,. Instead the girl comes to love him for the way he is. In a comedic way, and with lots of funny moments! Obviously the movie will have a happy ending, and he'd finally get the girl! Eric Nam would do a great job in this role, because it's pretty similar to how his real personality is.
Black or White by Cross Gene
The music video was a little graphic for my liking but I did like the message. This would make a great psychological, thriller about guys who pitted against their inner demons. The group of guys feel as if they are being tormented and threatened by unknown entity. Later in the movie we find out that they where being tormented by themselves and that they are fighting an inner battle. A battle where not everyone survives.(insert evil laugh). Personally I couldn't watch a film like this, but that's just because I hate horror and gory movies (I still haven't watched a single saw movie) ( ⚆ _ ⚆ )
Here some other mv's that I would like to see as movies, but I couldn't imagine any unique plot lines.

Recently I've noticed that a lot of Asian celebrities have been blonde at one point. It's a nice hair color as an american I see a lot of blonde people on a daily basis so it kind of loses its uniqueness. In Korea you probably don't see a lot people who have blonde hair, so for celebrities this a way to stand out.
I've seen a bunch of Asian Celebrities try blonde hair but not everyone looks good. There are few people I've seen where the blonde hair just ruined them, and made them look bad. Luckily there are some people who bring justice to their hairstyle and make me love them more! Here are my favorite 7 Asian celebrities that should make blonde their permanent hair color!

Lisa (Blackpink)
Lisa is pretty new to the K-Pop scene so I haven't seen her with any hair color other than blonde and gray/silver. The hairstyle itself is great and with her golden ombre it just makes her features stand out more!
Jackson (GOT7)
This boy from Hong Kong definitely knows how to work almost every shade of blonde. Jackson definitely has an adorable, childish personality and this hair color makes him look young and innocent. He looks good, and he knows it.
Sunjong (Infinite)
He is so sexy with blonde hair!! Sunjong has a quiet, introvert personality so when he has his hair black, or brown I find myself ignoring him, or losing him among the other Infinite members. When his hair is blonde I can't help but notice how pretty he is!
Taeyeon (SNSD)
Taeyeon is probably the female that wears blonde hair the best! I love that she is able to wear such a light shade of blonde and still look magical! Her hair color compliments her complexion and doesn't clash with it. I always wonder how she stays so pale...
Junho (2PM)
Junho didn't keep his blonde hair for long, but I enjoyed it while it lasted. This hair color gives him a boyish look, and matches his mischievous personality!
Suga (BTS)
This man has had every hair color in the book! While I do enjoy seeing him with green hair, blonde hair makes skin seem more pale, and gives him a angelic appearance.
Sehun (EXO)
Sehun looks good with various different hair colors but blonde is definitely my favorite. It makes him appear more mature, and it also goes well with his complexion.
Yoona (SNSD)
To be honest, she looks best with strawberry blonde hair. Yoona has a youthful and innocent look. When she wears her hair in brighter shades it makes her look younger, and brightens her appearance.
