Ever been to a birthday party, and saw a really delicious cake? The birthday girl/boy blows out the candles, and everyone grabs a slice to enjoy. You finish eating your slice, thinking how delicious it was, and decide to get another one. But when you look up, the cake is all gone.
This how I like to view short dramas. They’re great to watch but its not always enough. Sometimes they’re better than regular length shows because the plot is more focused, and not filled with useless scenes. The characters don’t have time to act stupid, because the plot must move forward.
On the other hand because the series is short by the time you start falling in love with it, the series is already over! Or the opposite is true and you have a hard time getting invested because of the short length, and rushed story
Finding a short drama or drama special that leaves you satisfied at the end, instead of imagining scenes of you beating up the writer, is hard.
Today I’m going to be sharing a list of my favorite mini drama series and Drama specials! All of these are shows that, yes I wish were full length or had second seasons, but at the same time left me feeling satisfied and happy that I watched it.

Thumping Spike
A volleyball coach and his players aim for success during which they develop stronger bond and friendship for each other as well as teamwork. This youthful story shows sportsmanship and heart thumping romance.
Not only is it one of the best short dramas I've ever watched, it also on my favorites list! This show is a good example of why you can't skip over a show just because of its length. The show is a great combination of comedy, romance, and volleyball scenes. I'm not a fan of volleyball but I did appreciate the scenes, because I can only imagine how long it took to train the actors to that level. I almost believed they were real volleyball players! The relationship between the leads developed at a great pace, which made the romance much more believable and sweeter!

Love for a thousand more
Pyeon Mi Jo is an immortal woman who does not wish to fall in love anymore. Nearly a thousand years old, her experiences in love tells her all men are "bastards" one way or another. But what's her current job? A Love Counselor. One day, she gets a new noisy neighbour, Yoo Joon Woo, a hip-hop crew leader
Seung Yoon (Winner) being the male lead is not only the reason I love this show (I did enjoy watching him though). The show mostly focuses on the developing relationship between Mi Jo, an immortal woman who acts her age(old), and a young man who is trying to make a name for himself and his music crew. It was interesting seeing these 2 people who looked as different as night and day bond over music. The romance was cute, and although the ending left off with a mini cliffhanger it was still an enjoyable watch!

The happy Loner
Ji Young is a thorough individualist and she does not have a relationship with others. Byeok Soo is the type who can't live without having relationships with others. Ji Young and Byeok Soo meet.
I love shows that highlight real societal issues, and this show does a great job of portraying mental illness. I was really surprised at how much I enjoyed this show! The female lead suffers from depression, and over the 2 episodes we see how she overcomes it. There was no insta-cure but the ending showed that there was a bright light at the end of the tunnel. The romance is good (the kisses were hot) and I love how these damaged people are slowly mending themselves with the help of each other. This is a show you can't miss!

Page Turner
Yoo Seul is a student of an art high school. She is a talented pianist and who won various contests, but she is driven by her mother. Yoo Seul's mother wanted to become a pianist when she was younger. One day, Yoo Seul has an accident. Yoo Seul may never play the piano again because of the accident. With the help of her friend Cha Shik and Yoo Seul's rival Jin Mok, Yoo Seul begins to live a new life.
Make sure you have a diary, pen, and box tissues handy. You will cry a lot while watching this, and feel the need to reflect on your life. You'll probably do a lot of reflecting so you'll need to write it down. This creates strong emotions, and purely about character growth and development. I love how it showed these various people at different points in their life and how they grew despite the obstacles. The message that this show delivers is beautiful! I do wish that we could've had some romance but honestly, it was perfect the way it is.

Splash Splash Love
Dan Bi is a senior high school student applying for the College Scholastic Ability Test. She has a special ability which allows her to transport to anywhere on rainy days. For her university entrance exam, Dan-Bi can't deal with the pressure and runs off to a playground. Without knowing why she goes into a puddle and finds herself transported to the Joseon period. She then falls in love with Lee Do, the young king who is in a difficult situation due to droughts and the spread of an epidemic.
They need to show this in schools!! It would give you more reason to study and pay attention to it! I mean, you never know when you might be sent to the past and have to help a young, hot king. The romance was swoon-worthy, and I died laughing at the leads couples interaction. Dan Bi reacted just like a girl in her situation should and her personality made me smile. It has a cute ending that was bittersweet but filled with hope. This a definite must watch!

Adolescence medley
Choi Jung Woo is a transfer student in Namil High School. After transferring schools 7 times, Jung Woo learns it is easiest not to make friends. He prefers to keep himself, and not grow close to anyone but falling in love quickly changes things...
Another reason why people should appreciate Kwak Dong Yeon (if you've seen Modern Farmer than you know how great he is). This a cute high school romance, about a boy who doesn't grow close others because he knows he'll leave eventually. He transfers to a new school were he falls in love and makes great friends along the way. I love how this show starts of in the future, and flashes back to Jung Woo's high school days. The show keeps you wondering if him and his first love get together. Besides the romance, I loved how it showed the character development. This show may only be 2 episodes but it makes you feel all sort of emotions!

Another drama I enjoyed was Secret Message. I excluded it from my list because I feel the romance developed very slow, and I wasn't satisfied with the ending. It's a good show but not everyone will it.
