Hiya Friends! How R U Today?
Did you know that Thai drama's (Lakorns) have a lot in common with the Hallmark Channel?
What do I mean? Well, let me explain...
In the USA there's a TV channel, Hallmark, that features heartwarming romances and family oriented movies/TV Shows. The movies are guilty pleasures and addicting to watch but they can be cringe-worthy at times. There's only so much cheesy dialogue, and unrealistic love stories a girl can handle.
On this channel not only will you find multiple movies with similar plots, but you'll also even find the same actors in all these similar movies.
Lakorns are exactly this. Guilty pleasures, that star the same actors repeatably! It's not uncommon to finish watching an airing lakorn, and see one (or both) of the leads starring in this new show.
Want to know which Thai actors/actresses are popular? Just look at how many dramas they've starred in. It usually tells it all! If the list goes on forever then, you know they're popular. See that they starred in dramas released weeks apart? They must be superstars! (Although one big difference is that Hallmark movies cause you to cringe because they're overly sweet. Thai dramas have you cringing because of the amount of jealous woman and slap/kiss moments.)
Today I have created a guide of my favorite, popular Thai actors and my favorite shows starring them!
Note: I repeat. When you are a popular actor in Thailand your face will be everywhere! Some of the shows listed might also star other actors from this list!
===========================================================================
Push (Puttichai Kasetsin)
Note: It may not be official, but to me DJ Push is the prince of romantic-comedies! His goofy personality was mad for those kinds of shows! He was the main reason I decided to give Thai drama's a chance. His smile (and body) are just beautiful!
Best Shows:
Ugly Duckling Perfect Match (Favorite)
===========================================================================
Mark (Prin Suparat)
Note: Prin is a very versatile actor. You'll find him in comedies, dramas, mystery. Basically, you'll see him everywhere! I love him in comedic roles, but after seeing him in Kleun Cheewit I changed my mind. Lawyer/Cop roles are better! He also stars in a few shows with his girlfriend Kimberly, and they're such a fun pair to watch.
Best Shows
Kleun Cheewit (Favorite)
Mario (Nutthawuth Maurer)
Note: The baby face with a hot body! Sadly I haven't seen Mario much recently. He appeared in Bunlang Dok Mai this year after a 2 year break from lakorns. I love how boyish and innocent he looks! This man is filled out and buff but that face just makes you want to pinch his cheeks!
Best Shows:The Rising Sun (favorite)
Song Huajai Nee Puea Tur
===========================================================================
Ken (Phupoom Phongpanu)
Note: In Korea there's Lee Sang Yoon. In Thailand there's Ken. These guys and their dimples!! Whenever he smiles, those dimples appear and he goes from being hot and sexy to cute and adorable. He has great chemistry with his co-stars, which always seems to make me squeal and blush.
Best Shows
Raeng Ngao (#2 drama, best revenge show ever!)
Dao Kieng Duen (#1 drama, All time favorite)
Boy (Pakorn Chatborirak)
Note: Boy is another versatile actor, but he plays a lot of police roles. Whenever him and Matt are casted together, you know its going to be a good show!
Best Shows:
Porn Prom Onlaweng (favorite)
Fah Krajang Dao 2013 (part of a series)
Nadech (Nadech Kugimiya)
Note: I haven't watched many shows staring Nadech, but that doesn't mean anything! From the shows I have seen I can tell he's very talented (and sexy). Something I have noticed though is that he stars alongside Urassaya, A LOT!! I don't know if the producers did that on purpose (they do look cute together and their chemistry is great!) or if its because they fit the roles. The world may never know...Best Shows:
Lom Sorn Ruk (Favorite)
Golf (Pichaya Nitipaisalkul)
Note: For all you Full House fans this is Golf, Mike's older brother. He and his brother look just alike, I swear I thought they were twins!! Golf doesn't act as much and does star in many more lighthearted romance shows. His shows are great for beginners or thai drama newbies!
Best Shows:
Angel Destiny (Favorite)

When you ask others for recommendations, they only to mention popular titles, shows with that just finished airing, or shows with a popular cast. Thanks, guys.
I can't tell you how many times I've seen someone ask for new show recommendations and the answer usually included popular shows such as Goblin, Healer, Kill Me, Heal Me, etc.
Yeah, those shows are good, but most people have probably seen or heard of them because they are always mentioned.
Have you visited mydramalist.com?
All of those shows rank in the top 20 highest rated dramas!!!
On the other hand, there are many great shows that are underappreciated (and ranked below 20)! Usually these shows go unnoticed because the cast is filled with small names or the show came on while a popular title was airing.
For example, How many of you guys can name another show that aired around the same time as Goblin?
Probably none, because everyone's attention was focused on that one show.
Today I have a list of some great shows that I consider hidden gems! Watching lesser known shows like this is a great way to introduce yourself to knew actors and add more variety to what you're watching!
Let's go!
Dr. Frost
Song Chang Eui plays Dr. Frost, a young, brilliant psychologist who solves crimes involving perpetrators with mental illnesses. The cast isn't filled with big names (none), and it isn't filled with intense, suspenseful crimes. Instead, we have a slower pace show with crimes that are intriguing, logical and an episodic plot. This show gets good ratings from those who have seen it, but on the other hand, not many people have seen or heard of it. This show is worth watching not only for the psychological cases but because of the character Dr.Frost. He has a way of capturing your interest!
Spring Day Of My Life
A cute romance about a young woman Lee Bom Yi (Choi Soo Young) who has finally been given a new lease on life after having a successful heart transplant a few years ago. While on vacation she meets and later falls in love with the older widower and father of 2, Kang Dong Ha (Kam Woo Sung). There are many obstacles that stand in the way of them being together besides the age gap. Such as the fact that Dong Ha is her fiancee's older brother, and there's also a secret that ties them together.
The show pulled strong but the ending didn't suit the show and in my opinion, its why the show has received lower ratings. It was strange because episode 10 seemed to wrap the up the story, and for a moment it seemed as if the show was over. But there were still 6 more episodes. If you want to enjoy the show and end it on a reasonable note just stop at episode 10. Don't watch 11-16. Save yourself!
Ms.Temper and Nam Jung Gi
It does have a cute romance story, but the show is mostly about character development. It takes time for the romance to develop but Its worth it! The characters change a lot from the way they were at the beginning and that just makes the romance seem much more beautiful!
Romance Blue
A web drama about Min Woo (Park Min Woo) a man that doesn't understand what love is, and Ji An (Kim Ji An) a girl who is scared, but wants to experience love. Its a short, melancholy romance story about two similar yet different people falling in love.
Divorce Lawyers in Love
We all know that Yeon Woo Jin is the prince of romantic comedies! In Divorce Lawyers in Love, he plays So Jeong Wo, a new Lawyer who previously worked under Go Cheok Hee (Jo Yeo Jung) an ambitious, and arrogant lawyer who was determined to win every case no matter what had to be done. They parted on bad terms, and years later they meet again. This times the roles reversed. Jeong Wo has just opened up his own law firm, and Cheok Hee comes to work as the office manager. What better time to get revenge? The chemistry between the leads is good and the comedic cast keep you watching! Sometimes I found myself rolling my eyes from the cheesiness, but overall it's a fun show! It's great for those times when you want to watch a lighthearted romance without all the extra drama.
THE END!
Have you seen any of these shows? Do you have any hidden gems? Let me know which shows you recommend. Maybe you'll introduce me to my new favorite show!
See Ya~
